Tullow working up drilling prospects offshore Guyana, Uruguay

 

Tullow Oil is stepping up exploration of frontier basins offshore South America and West Africa.

The company’s New Ventures team has completed a 2D seismic survey off Jamaica and a 3D survey offshore Uruguay, Offshore reports.

Tullow will use the Uruguay data to mature prospects for drilling, while results from Jamaica will help refine the location of a potential 3D seismic survey.

During the month of May shooting will begin on a 3D seismic survey over the Kanuku license offshore Guyana, directly up-dip of ExxonMobil’s Liza oil discovery, with results used to define potential prospects for drilling in 2018/19. A 3D survey over the Orinduik license will follow in July.

Drilling of the Araku exploration well offshore Suriname should get under way during 4Q.

Offshore Mauritania, 3D surveys covering potential new plays in three blocks will begin next month. (Offshore)
